Statement
Nine people were killed — including four children and two women — and seven others were injured as a result of deliberate suicide-drone attacks carried out by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (al-Hilou) on a kindergarten and several civilian facilities in the town of Kalogi in South Kordofan State. This attack constitutes a grave violation of international humanitarian law and is a continuation of the targeting of civilians and vital infrastructure.
The Sudan Doctors Network strongly condemns this deliberate drone attack on the town of Kalogi, stressing that assaults on densely populated areas worsen the suffering of citizens and increase the burden on medical staff and the health sector, which is already facing major challenges amid the ongoing conflict.
The Sudan Doctors Network holds the RSF leadership fully responsible for the incident and calls on the United Nations and human rights and humanitarian organizations to take practical steps to curb attacks on civilians, support humanitarian and relief efforts in the region, and pressure RSF and SPLM-N leaders to cease their targeting of civilian facilities, schools, and markets.
