Sudan, Egypt Boost Economic Ties

Raasedoon

Sudan’s Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, Saif Al-Nasr Al-Tijani, has affirmed that Sudanese-Egyptian relations are entering a new phase of strengthened economic cooperation, driven by progress in major transport and reconstruction projects aimed at boosting trade and regional connectivity.

Speaking on recent developments, the minister highlighted the railway project linking Aswan in southern Egypt to Abu Hamad in northern Sudan as a cornerstone of this partnership. The project is being financed through a grant from the State of Kuwait and is expected to significantly facilitate the movement of goods and passengers between the two countries.

Al-Tijani also revealed ongoing studies to expand Egyptian private sector participation in Sudan’s transport infrastructure, particularly in the development, management, and operation of ports. These efforts are intended to enhance efficiency, increase trade volumes, and position Sudan as a vital logistical gateway linking Egypt with African markets.
