RSF Detains More Than 100 Families in Babnousa

Sudan Doctors Network: statement

‎The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) are detaining more than 100 families from the city of Babnousa and the surrounding villages, including children and pregnant women, in extremely dangerous humanitarian conditions. According to videos reviewed by the Networks teams, several detainees — especially women — have been subjected to beatings and humiliation on accusations that their relatives belong to the army, raising deep concern for their safety.

‎The Sudan Doctors Network condemns these violations in the strongest terms, affirming that detaining civilians and subjecting them to ill-treatment constitutes a blatant breach of international humanitarian law and deepens the humanitarian catastrophe in the region. The Network reiterates its absolute rejection of targeting civilians — especially women and children — or using them as leverage or demanding ransom from their relatives in exchange for their release.
