RSF and SPLM Attack Al-Zallataya Mine in South Kordofan and Abduct More Than 150 Young Men, Including Underage Children

The Sudan Doctors Network strongly condemns the heinous crime committed by forces affiliated with the Sudan Peoples Movement–al-Hilou faction and elements of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), following their attack on the Al-Zallataya mine in the Tibsa administrative unit in Abbasiya locality, South Kordofan State — in the first blatant violation of the unilateral humanitarian truce.

According to confirmed information received by the Network from the field, more than 150 young men and a number of underage children were forcibly abducted for the purpose of recruitment, in a direct assault on civilians that amounts to war crimes and grave violations of international humanitarian law.

The Sudan Doctors Network holds the SPLM and the RSF fully responsible for this crime. It considers the targeting of civilians — especially children — an inhumane act, a clear violation of all international conventions, and a crime that does not expire with time and requires immediate accountability for its perpetrators.

The Network calls for the immediate and unconditional release of all abductees, an end to all forms of forced recruitment, and urgent permission for humanitarian organizations to enter the area to provide medical care and relief to the affected local community.

The Sudan Doctors Network also urges the United Nations, international organizations, and relevant regional bodies to intervene urgently to put an end to these violations. It affirms that this is not the first such incident, as it was preceded by another forced recruitment operation inside Tibsa town market and the looting of the area.
